Asher's story is one of those modern miracles.
When he and his twin brother Titus were still inside mommy's tummy, they wanted to come out much, much too early. At 19 weeks mommy started to go into labor, but Titus laid his body across mommy's cervix protecting both he and Asher from being born for another 4 weeks. At 23 1/2 weeks, Titus and Asher were born. Titus returned to heaven that day, and Asher remained behind. Baby brother, Titus, saved his brother's life and is a hero to their mom and dad. Asher was born at 1lb 3 oz.
I had the privilege today to take the first portrait pictures of Asher Adams in
the NICU down at Children's Hospital. When I arrived he was in a very high tech incubator (that reminded me of Star Trek) They opened the top, and laid down the sides. As we began to talk to him he started to make all sorts of sweet faces, in response to mommy's voice. And then the smiles started coming!! Oh, it was beautiful. As I reached to move one of his hands back into the viewing screen of my camera, I realized just how small his little hands were. This experience for me was a heavenly honor, as the spirit filled that room, and love flowed freely between this sweet family.
He was almost three months old and 3lbs 3oz when I photographed him. He is a champion for sure!
We were not able to remove him from his cradle, so we worked with that.
Since his portrait session he has been moved out of the high risk NICU, and is being loving held by mommy, daddy, family and close friends.
